After some frustrations with images not being sufficiently readable, I realized that there must be a better way for designers and webdevelopers to test this.

The result of that thought can be found at, an easy online tool where web developers can test their own web properties within a matter of seconds. Hopefully web developers will start to use it as a reference tool to see how many people are actually able to properly view their website. About 21% of the world population has 0.5 dioptry eyesight – that means they don’t need to wear glasses but they do have impaired vision.

I had quite a lot of fun developing this, as it’s utilizing the browser’s filter capabilities to the max for a functional (not just aesthetic) reason. The CSS3 / HTML5 spec is definitely changing the web into a full-on programming language if I can create something like this without requiring the user to install anything else.
